The value of best practices in an innovative and sustainable school – SILAB, Social Innovation Lab

Miguel Amaral, professor at the Department of Engineering and Management and researcher at the Center for Studies in Innovation, Technology and Development Policies (IN+), was the guest speaker at the ObservIST 6th Meeting and kindly gave a presentation entitled: “The value of best practices in an innovative and sustainable school – SILAB, Social Innovation Lab”, in which activities and partnerships were described.
This Social Innovation Laboratory@IST aims to “become a national and international network of students, researchers, teachers, universities, companies and social enterprises, which promotes solutions for the well-being of the world’s population.”, by working on the values of cooperation, social sustainability, empowerment of local communities, creativity and integration with external communities, in order to develop research capabilities and processes and products that satisfy the needs of local communities and those linked to emerging markets.
The presentation also focused on technology-based entrepreneurship, university extension, frugal innovation and incentives for innovative practices.
